CULPEPER, Va. (WUSA) -- Dominique Jamaal Newsome, 22, faces several charges for gun-wielding in the parking lot on a 7-Eleven.
The incident took place Wednesday at about 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven located on the 800 block of North Main Street when Culpeper police responded to a disturbance.
According to police reports, a 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman parked in their 2011 Dodge Durango rental and went inside the store to make a purchase. On their way out, they were approached by Newsome.
Newsome allegedly asked the man if he knew where a particular person was. According to police the person in question was the man's friend.
When the 24 year-old said he didn't know, Newsome allegedly kicked the driver'sSUV door, causing a dent. Hethen allegedly pulled a handgun from his waistband and broke the driver's side window. The couplewas able to getin their vehicle anddrive away safely.
CulpeperCounty Sheriff's Deputies searched for Newsome butcouldn't locate him.
Hours later, Newsome surrenderedat the town police station.
