WASHINGTON (WUSA) - Motorists should plan ahead this weekend if headed over the Bay Bridge as two military convoys are expected to arrive at the bridge on Friday at noon.

From 12-1 p.m., there will be an estimated 88 military vehicles headed eastbound on the Bay Bridge. The Maryland Transportation Authority will direct the large groups to the far-right side of the toll plaza, and then implement a two-way traffic pattern to help delays.

The MDTA would like to remind drivers that they should travel off-peak if they are headed over the Bay Bridge to the shore.

The best times to travel according to the Maryland Transportation authority are: Thursday and Friday, before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m., Saturday before 7 a.m., and after 5 p.m., and Sunday before 10 a.m., and after 10 p.m.

Drivers are asked to stay informed and use caution when driving over the Bay Bridge. Plan accordingly, and call 1-877-BAYSPAN (1-877-229-7726) for 24/7 traffic conditions.
