CHANTILLY,VA (WUSA) --He's been a teacher for just a year, but Robert Fenn has now thrown his Fairfax County elementary school into crisis.

Police and federal agents picked up the special ed teacher Tuesday at Poplar Tree Elementary in Chantilly and charged him with 10 counts of possessing child pornography.

Police say all the child porn was on his home computer and that they have no reason to suspect that he exploited any students at Poplar Tree.

It is less than a week left until the end of school year, and school officials now say the principal is just trying to keep students focused following allegations.

Federal agents from the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement were the first to suspect Robert Fenn might be looking at child porn on his home computer. They alerted Fairfax County Police. And authorities say a search of the new teacher's house found ten different salacious pictures of children.

"Are you concerned about the safety of the kids at the school?" I askedFairfax County police spokesman and Master Police Officer Eddy Azcarate. "No we are not," he replied. "There is no evidence that would indicate any of the children are in any of the images. We have nor reason to believe that they are."

A man who came to the door at Fenn's house declined to talk. "I have no comments for you at all." "You can't talk to me?" "I'm not about to."

But some of his neighbors say they're hoping it's all a mistake. "I'm hoping it was something that was unintentional," says 19 year old Tina Bowser. "Going to give him the benefit of the doubt."

Police decline to offer any details about the images or what exactly led them to suspect Fenn.

The parents we talked to are confident of the principal's ability to deal with the crisis. "I feel great about the school," said Stephanie Hamby."My daughter has a lot of fun there."

The school has suspended Fenn without pay.

A schools spokesman says there are counselors in the building, if the children or the other teachers need to talk.
