(Sports Network) - San Francisco 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs was part of "caravan" of exotic cars escorted at high speed down the Garden State Parkway by two New Jersey State Police troopers last month, according to a report.

The Newark Star-Ledger reported Tuesday that State Police are investigating complaints of witnesses who saw two patrol cars with their emergency lights flashing driving in front of and behind dozens of cars on March 30.

Jacobs, who played his first seven NFL seasons for the New York Giants before signing with the 49ers earlier this month, was among the occupants of one of the cars headed southbound to Atlantic City, a source told the paper.

The running back's agent told the Star-Ledger that Jacobs "was part of a group that went down to Atlantic City on March 30."

Jacobs, who won two Super Bowls with his former team, is a well-known car enthusiast.
