WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Since April 6th, 9News Now has been following our colleague and friend JC Hayward as she battles a diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer.
We followed JC to meetings with her breast surgeon, an MRI that found a second suspect mass that was benign, the plastic surgeon's office and finally to the operating room. Once determined to have a double mastectomy, JC chose to have a breast conserving lumpectomy.
The procedure took less than 90 minutes and JC was discharged that same evening.
She returned to TV looking great on Monday.
Andrea Roane sat down with JC to ask her how she felt and what her status is now. She also gave JC a gift from the newsroom.
