Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday signed free agent defensive tackle Amobi Okoye to a one-year contract.
Okoye, entering his sixth season in the NFL, joins the Buccaneers after spending last season with the Chicago Bears and his first four years with the Houston Texans.
He played in all 16 games with Chicago and recorded 27 tackles -- two for a loss -- and four sacks.
In 78 career games -- 59 starts -- Okoye has posted 165 tackles, 15 sacks, five passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Originally selected 10th overall in the 2007 NFL Draft, he set a Texans franchise record for sacks by a rookie with 5 1/2.
