PASADENA, Md. (WUSA) -- Firefighters in Anne Arundel County battled a 2-alarm blaze in the Elizabeth's Landing area of Pasadena early Tuesday morning.

Captain James Rostek, spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, says crews were alerted to a house fire at 1001 Cutler Harbour around 3:20 a.m. Once crews arrived on scene they found two townhouses fully engulfed in flames. Capt. Rostek says all occupants were able to escape the flames unharmed.

It took 76 firefighters about an hour to bring the blaze under control, Rostek said. Both homes suffered extensive damage and will need to be rebuilt.

A total of six residents, including a couple pets, have been displaced. The Red Cross has been called in to assist them.

Fire investigators are now on scene working to determine the cause of the blaze.
