DENVER (AP) - The Colorado health department says four of Safeway Farms branded bagged salad mixes are being recalled over fears of E. coli contamination.
Safeway has pulled the items from store shelves and will refund customers the purchase price. The recalled salad mixes are 10 ounce packages of Safeway Farms' "Caesar Romaine," 9 ounce "Hearts of Romaine," 10 ounce "Supreme Caesar Complete Kit" and 10.25 ounce "Southwestern Ranch Complete Kit."
State health officials say the salads were sold between Nov. 7 and Wednesday.
E. coli is a potentially deadly bacteria that can cause diarrhea, dehydration, and in severe cases, kidney failure.
