WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Washington Animal Rescue League has a new pet of the seek: Smushie.
Poor Smushie. The 7-year-old prebred Pekingese arrived at the Washington Animal Rescue League from South Carolina with his best friend, who has since been adopted. Now Smushie is inconsolable.
Smushie is a gentle senior who seems comfortable around people of all ages, although he isn't particularly fond of other dogs; apparently, his canine BFF was an exception.
Smushie is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, which means his physical activity needs to be limited until its completion. But that shouldn't deter any potential adopters because, let's face it, Smushie isn't exactly the athletic type. All he wants if a calm, reasonably quiet home where he can share some quality time with a person of his own.
Because of his mature status, Smushie qualifies for our Boomers' Buddies program which means his adoption fee will be waived for adopters age 50 or older.
