WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The star of television's Little House on the Prairie has a new book out and she's coming to the National Archives to talk about it.
On Saturday, September 13, Melissa Gilbert will hold a special (and free) event about her new book "My Prairie Cookbook: Memories and Frontier Food from My Little House to Yours" in the William G. McGowan Theater of the National Archives Building in D.C.
The book contains 80 family recipes and childhood favorites from Gilbert.
There will be a book signing after the event.
Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote the Little House series that was the basis of the television series. The National Archives holds the Homestead applications of Charles Ingalls (www.archives.gov/research/land/ingalls/index.html) and Almanzo Wilder (www.archives.gov/historical-docs/todays-doc/index.html?dod-date=912).
