Auckland, New Zealand (SportsNetwork.com) - American John Isner won his second Heineken Open tennis tournament in Auckland with a 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (9-7) victory over Taiwan's Yen-Hsun Lu.
Isner, the 2010 champion, fired 23 aces past Lu to capture his eighth career title in his 17th final.
The 30-year-old Lu, who took down three-time defending champion David Ferrer in the semifinals, played in his first-ever ATP final on Saturday.
The third-seeded Isner improved to 2-0 lifetime against Lu, with the other victory coming in Atlanta three years ago.
Isner took home $82,500 with the victory.
