Stockholm, Sweden (Sports Network) - Top seeds Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Tomas
Berdych were among the quarterfinal winners Friday at the Stockholm Open
tennis tournament.
The top-seeded Tsonga, of France, handled Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-3,
6-4, while the Czech slugger Berdych outlasted sixth-seeded Russian Mikhail
Youzhny 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) on the indoor courts at The Royal Lawn Tennis Club of
Stockholm.
The former Australian Open runner-up Tsonga will face seventh-seeded Cypriot
Marcos Baghdatis in the semifinals. Baghdatis, who won here in 2009, defeated
rising Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis by a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) margin.
Berdych will next take on third-seeded Spaniard Nicolas Almagro, who got past
former world No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt 6-1, 6-4.
The 2012 Stockholm champ will earn $113,795.
