Beijing, China (Sports Network) - World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and third-seeded Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga were a pair of easy quarterfinal winners Friday at the $2.2 million China Open.

The two-time Beijing champion Djokovic drubbed struggling Austrian left-hander Jurgen Melzer 6-1, 6-2 in a mere 53 minutes on the hardcourts at the National Tennis Centre. The Serbian star swatted 12 aces and was not broken on Day 5.

Djokovic was the back-to-back China Open champion in 2009 and 2010. He also captured this year's Australian Open and was the runner-up at the 2012 French and U.S. Opens.

The five-time Grand Slam titlist Djokovic's semifinal opponent on Saturday will be German Florian Mayer, who handled Chinese wild card Ze Zhang 6-3, 6-4. Djokovic is 2-0 lifetime against Mayer, including a quarterfinal victory at Wimbledon in July.

The other semifinal will pit the world No. 7 Tsonga against Spanish southpaw Feliciano Lopez. Tsonga cruised past Russian Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 6-2, while Lopez came from behind to bounce 6-foot-6 American Sam Querrey 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Lopez and Querrey combined for 22 aces, including 12 by the winner.

Tsonga is 4-0 lifetime versus Lopez, including a victory at the London Olympic Games this past summer.

The 2012 Beijing champ will earn $530,570.
