Tashkent, Uzbekistan (Sports Network) - Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu and
Croatian qualifier Donna Vekic won their respective semifinal matches on
Friday at the Tashkent Open.
Begu upset second-seeded Urszula Radwanska 6-3, 6-3 to secure a spot in her
first final of the year.
Meanwhile, Vekic outlasted Eva Birnerova, last year's Tashkent runner-up,
by a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 margin to reach the first title match of her career.
The 16-year-old Vekic is the youngest player to reach a WTA final since 2006
when Tamira Paszek (at age 15) won the title at Portoroz.
