Paris, France (Sports Network) - A fourth-seeded duo of Sara Errani and
Roberta Vinci are the 2012 French Open women's doubles champions.
The Italians Errani and Vinci overcame a seventh-seeded Russian tandem of
Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, on Court Suzanne Lenglen at
Stade Roland Garros on Friday.
Errani and Vinci were the runners-up at this year's Aussie Open, where they
lost to a Russian team of Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva.
The hot Errani will also appear in the women's singles final against new
No. 1 Maria Sharapova on Saturday.
Kirilenko and Petrova toppled fifth-seeded defending Roland Garros champions
Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic in a semifinal
here on Thursday.
The 25-year-old Kirilenko was an Australian Open doubles runner-up last year,
while the 29-year-old Petrova was a U.S. Open doubles runner-up in 2010.
Errani and Vinci will split $425,000.
