Dusseldorf, Germany (Sports Network) - Serbia won the World Team Cup title for
a second time with a sweep of three matches Saturday against the Czech
Republic.
Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki earned singles victories to clinch it for
the Serbs, who then completed the whitewash of the final with a doubles
triumph.
Tipsarevic was up first on Saturday and notched a 7-5, 7-6 (10-8) victory over
Tomas Berdych, breaking a three-match losing streak against the Czech star.
Troicki then rallied from a set down and claimed a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over
Radek Stepanek.
The doubles rubber then went to Tipsarevic and Nenad Zimonjic in 6-3, 6-1
fashion over Berdych and Frantisek Cermak.
Serbia, which went 3-0 during group play, also won this title in 2009. The
Czechs, also 3-0 in round-robin action, were trying to win the tournament for
the third time.
