LOUDOUN CO., Va. (WUSA) -- Loudoun County could be home to a new minor league baseball team. But first it has to get approval for a baseball field.

That's where developers and architects come in. They hope to hit a homerun with a new minor league ball field in Loudoun County, and people seem to be responding.

Carolyn Knight shops often in Leesburg and says, "I'm not a sports fanatic but I'd definitely go. I would convince others to go too. We need more activity out here in the county."

The same sentiment is felt by Blount Donnell who says, "Building and the way the economy is going it could offer jobs. There would be something to offer everybody in the community."

Developers say the project could bring up to 13-thousand new jobs to the area. Developers have proposed a 55-hundred seat stadium near Dulles Town Center at Route 28 and Route 7 for the home of a new Atlantic League expansion team.

Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chairman Scott York says, "Having an opportunity to expand family friendly entertainment in Loudoun County is thrilling to me."

But not everyone is so thrilled. York says he's been getting emails from people on both sides. He says many of the complaints have to do with concerns over traffic, saying why bring more drivers on to Route 7 and 28. But developers say they plan to build more infrastructure to alleviate traffic in both area at no cost to the county. The project is using all private funding.

Dan Coughlan is one of the developers who says, "We're trying to take traffic off the roads and bring entertainment to citizens of Loudoun County."

If approved the project would also include a new performing arts center, parks, walking trails, restaurants, retail, office space and condos that would culminate into an entertainment district called Kincora Village. Developers say the name comes from 1000 A.D. Kincora was the capital of Ireland and home of Ireland's first 'High King.' They say during this period, Kincora served as the seat of Irish commerce and knowledge.

A public hearing is scheduled for June 8th at 6:30 p.m. when hall of famers Harmon Killebrew and Brooks Robinson are expected to be there.
