World Cup: DC watches US play Germany

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- If your coworkers are taking a "long lunch" Thursday, chances are they're in Dupont Circle watching the World Cup.

Hundreds of fans have gathered to watch the U.S. soccer team take on Germany for a spot in the next round. The game is being shown in the middle of Dupont Circle during a watch party hosted by the German embassy.

During the 2010 World Cup, the Dupont Festival's Soccer in the Circle event drew hundreds of fans as U.S. played England.

The National Harbor is also broadcasting the game on a giant screen.

It will be do or die for the American team, as the results of their game will determine who will make it past the "Group of Death."
