No World Cup for U.S.: National team loses on final day of qualifying

(WUSA) - The United States men's national team is in an unfamiliar spot.

For the first time since 1986, the United States will not participate in the World Cup.

The U.S. lost to Trinidad & Tobago 2-1, and that loss coupled with wins by Panama and Honduras means the United States finished fifth in CONCACAF qualifying.

The last time the U.S. did not participate in he World Cup, Clint Dempsey was just 3-years old.

Now the national team will have to hit the reset button, and figure out what went wrong before qualifying for the 2022 World Cup begins.
