New York, NY (Sports Network) - Los Angeles Galaxy forward Robbie Keane scored
five goals in July, including consecutive two-goal matches, to earn the Major
League Soccer Player of the Month award.
Keane added four assists to his goal total, leading the Galaxy to a 4-1-1 mark
during July. He combined with fellow L.A. designated players David Beckham and
Landon Donovan for 11 goals and 11 assists in July.
With nine goals this season, Keane is tied for the team lead with Donovan, and
is tied for sixth in the MLS Golden Boot race. This is the first player of the
month award for Keane, and the first for a Galaxy player this season.
The award is selected each month of the regular season by journalists from the
North American Soccer Reporters.
