SF's Colin Kaepernick investigated for sexual assault

(USA TODAY) -- San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is being investigated by police in Miami for a possible sexual assault at a Miami hotel earlier this month.

Miami Police Department public information officer Rene Pimentel confirmed the investigation to USA TODAY Sports on Thursday. The investigation was originally reported by TMZ.

"There are no charges, definitely not. There is an investigation regarding an allegation," Pimentel told USA TODAY Sports.

According to an incident report obtained by USA TODAY Sports, the alleged incident took place April 1 at the Viceroy hotel in downtown Miami.

The 49ers confirmed they are also looking into the allegation.

"The 49ers organization is aware of the recent media report regarding Colin Kaepernick and is in the process of gathering the pertinent facts," general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement.
