Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Top overall draft pick Anthony Davis had a
successful final tune-up for the regular season, as he scored 24 points and
pulled down 11 rebounds in New Orleans' 96-89 triumph over the defending NBA
champion Miami Heat.
Davis shot 11-of-18 from the field. Greivis Vasquez notched 18 points and 10
assists for the Hornets, who split their eight preseason contests. They'll
host the San Antonio Spurs Wednesday to open the regular season.
Ryan Anderson had 17 points and Al-Farouq Aminu ended with 13 points and 10
boards.
Chris Bosh totaled 21 points and 10 rebounds for Miami, while reigning MVP
LeBron James contributed 19 points and Dwyane Wade scored 15.
The Heat finished the preseason 4-4 and will open regular season play at home
Tuesday against the Boston Celtics in an Eastern Conference finals rematch.
Aminu's 3-point play put the Hornets in front at 89-86 with 3:11 remaining.
Anderson then canned a jumper and nailed a 3-pointer to extend the lead to
94-86 with 45.4 seconds left.
