Kissimmee, FL (Sports Network) - Brandon Laird's grand slam paced a six-run
bottom of the sixth which propelled Houston over the Yankees, 7-6, in
Grapefruit League action.
Melky Mesa's three-run blast helped give New York a 5-1 edge in the top of the
frame, but the Astros responded on Laird's blast plus a bases-loaded walk to
Marc Krauss and an RBI double from Jake Goebbert.
Sam Demel picked up the win despite allowing two hits and two runs while
recording one out in the top of the sixth.
Zoilo Almonte, Matt Diaz and Adonis Garcia drove in a run each in defeat.
Shane Greene took the loss, charged with three hits and four runs with two
walks in one-third of an inning.
