St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Carlos
Beltran will not start against the San Francisco Giants in Game 4 of the
National League Championship Series.
Beltran strained his knee in the bottom of the first inning of Game 3 while
running to first base, attempting to beat out a double play. He was replaced
in right field by Matt Carpenter in the top of the second.
However, if needed, Beltran will be available off the bench, according to
manager Mike Matheny.
"Still bothering him to the point where we can't start him, but he will be
available as pinch hitter late in the game," Matheny said.
Carpenter will start at first base tonight, while Allen Craig will move to the
outfield and play in right.
