New York, NY (Sports Network) - San Diego Padres third baseman Chase Headley has been named the National League player of the month for September.

Also winning the award for August, Headley continued to swing a hot bat over the final full month of the season. He posted a .324 batting average while hitting nine homers and driving in a league-best 30 runs.

According to Elias, Headley is just the second player since 2000 to post back- to-back months with 30-or-more RBI. Albert Pujols accomplished the feat in April and May of 2006.

Headley joined former third baseman Ken Caminiti, who also won the award in back-to-back months, as the only other Padre to collect the monthly honor twice in a season.

Milwaukee's Ryan Braun, Washington's Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman, San Francisco's Buster Posey and Marco Scutaro and Cincinnati's Joey Votto were also considered for the award.
