Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira will
play for the first time in more than three weeks during Monday's game against
the Boston Red Sox.
Teixeira hasn't played for the Yankees since aggravating a previous left calf
strain at Baltimore on Sept. 8. The switch-hitting slugger had also missed 10
games with the same injury prior to that contest, having first hurt the calf
in an Aug. 27 matchup against Toronto.
The two-time All-Star is hitting .255 with 23 homers and 81 runs batted in
over 120 games this season.
New York is presently tied with Baltimore for first place in the American
League East heading into its three-game series with the Red Sox, which will
close out the regular season.
