Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Detroit Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer will miss
his next scheduled start because of continuing shoulder fatigue.
Scherzer was slated to start Friday against the Minnesota Twins. A timetable
for his next turn has not been determined.
The right-hander left his Sept. 18 start against the Oakland Athletics after
just two innings because of the issue, then worked only five innings this past
Sunday against the Twins.
In 31 starts this season, Scherzer has a record of 16-7 with a 3.82 ERA. He is
second in the American League with 228 strikeouts, trailing only teammate
Justin Verlander.
Rookie lefty Drew Smyly is set to take the ball on Friday against the Twins.
