New York, NY (Sports Network) - New York Yankees outfielder Ichiro Suzuki has
been named the American League player of the week for the period ending Sept.
23.
Suzuki led the majors with a .600 batting average, 15 hits, six steals and a
.630 on-base percentage. He clubbed two homers and drove in five runs.
Others considered for the award included Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers,
Jeff Keppinger of the Tampa Bay Rays and Carlos Santana of the Cleveland
Indians.
