San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - The last time the San Francisco Giants
were division champions, they won the World Series.
The Giants locked up the NL West title for the second time in three years by
beating the San Diego Padres, 8-4, Saturday night.
In 2010, the Giants won the Fall Classic over Texas. This team will head into
the postseason with new faces.
Marco Scutaro, who was acquired in a late July trade from Colorado, knocked in
three runs. Brandon Belt, who didn't break into the majors until 2011, homered
in support of Madison Bumgarner's 5 2/3 innings.
Angel Pagan caught pinch-hitter Mark Kotsay's line drive to center field for
the final out and a celebratory jump near the mound was on. The Giants then
took a lap around AT&T Park, slapping the hands of fans.
The Giants won their sixth straight game, a season-best.
