St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price has
been scratched from his scheduled start on Saturday when the Rays square off
with the Texas Rangers for the second installment of a three-game set.
Price felt unusual soreness in his pitching shoulder after his last start on
Sunday, when he earned his AL-leading 17th victory after giving up two runs on
six hits and four walks over 6 2/3 frames against the Toronto Blue Jays.
A former first-overall pick back in 2007, Price has pitched to a 17-5 record
with a 2.54 earned run average and 175 strikeouts in 27 starts.
The Rays recalled pitcher Chris Archer to make Price's start on Saturday.
Archer has gone 0-2 in two starts with Tampa Bay this season, despite a 3.86
ERA and 14 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings.
