Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Chicago Cubs claimed pitcher Jason
Berken off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles on Friday.
He has appeared in 106 games over four seasons with Baltimore, but just one
this season. Over his time, which included 24 starts, he is 10-17 with a 5.40
earned run average.
At Triple-A Norfolk in 2012, he went 5-6 with a 3.50 ERA in 26 starts.
To make room on the roster, the team placed pitcher Blake Parker on the 60-day
disabled list with a bone contusion in his right elbow.
He gave up four runs over six innings in seven relief appearances for Chicago
this season.
