St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - Alex Rodriguez was in the lineup for
the New York Yankees on Monday and he will be batting fourth as the designated
hitter to open a three-game set against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Rodriguez, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list for a fractured left
hand after being hit by a pitch by the Seattle Mariners' Felix Hernandez on
July 24, is hitting .276 with 15 homers and 44 RBI in 94 games this season.
The Yankees went 18-18 during Rodriguez's absence and entering Monday's
action, the team holds a two-game lead over Baltimore for first place in the
AL East.
In two rehab games for Single-A Tampa, the 37-year-old went 0-for-7 with a
walk and four strikeouts.
