St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - Toronto Blue Jays pitchers Drew
Hutchison and Dustin McGowan are both scheduled to undergo surgery on
Thursday.
Hutchison, 21, posted a 5-3 record with a 4.60 earned run average in 11 starts
before being removed from a June 15 game against Philadelphia with elbow
soreness after throwing just nine pitches.
The Florida native will have Tommy John surgery performed by Dr. James
Andrews. Approximate recovery time is one year.
McGowan, who is yet to appear in a game for the Blue Jays this season, will
visit Andrews on Wednesday before undergoing arthroscopic shoulder surgery on
Thursday.
The 30-year-old previously had shoulder surgeries performed in 2008 and 2010,
limiting the right-hander to just four starts since July 8, 2008.
