Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner will
have arthroscopic surgery next week on his right elbow.
Team doctor Christopher Ahmad will perform the surgery on Gardner, who has
been on the disabled list since April 18. Gardner was hitting .321 over nine
contests.
Gardner appeared in 159 games for the Yankees last season, batting .259 with
career highs in both home runs (seven) and stolen bases (49) to go along with
his 36 RBI and 87 runs scored.
A third-round pick of the Yankees in 2005, Gardner has hit .265 with 15
homers, 137 steals, 125 RBI and 255 runs scored in 468 games.
