Dustin Pedroia from the 15-day disabled list and optioned infielder Mauro
Gomez to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Pedroia was in the starting lineup for Thursday's matchup with the Chicago
White Sox for the first time since July 3 when he jammed his right thumb while
trying to make a diving catch against the Oakland Athletics.
The 28-year-old second baseman was hitting .266 with six home runs and 33 RBI
over 74 games with the Red Sox before landing on the DL on July 6, retroactive
to July 4.
Gomez, who made his major league debut this season, hit .300 with three
