Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - Dayan Viciedo made the Yankees pay for a bad throw, hitting a three-run homer in the ninth inning Thursday night to lift the White Sox to a 4-3 win in the opener of a four-game series. Viciedo's go- ahead blast off David Robertson (0-2) came after Yankees reliever Clay Rapada sailed a throw into center field on a tailor-made double play ball with no outs, leaving two men on base. The Yankees put a runner on in the bottom of the ninth, but Derek Jeter lined out to the wall in deep right to end their five-game winning streak. Alejandro De Aza also homered for the White Sox, who have won five of their last six. Hector Santiago (2-1) got the win despite giving up a solo home run to Mark Teixeira in the eighth. Addison Reed pitched around Dewayne Wise's single to earn his 11th save.

Final Score: Cleveland 7, Baltimore 2

Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - All the Indians needed was a little offense to break their longest losing streak of the year. Johnny Damon, Shin-Soo Choo and Asdrubal Cabrera all went deep on Thursday, helping Cleveland snap a five- game skid in a 7-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles. The Indians were coming off a sweep at the hands of the Yankees as well as a series loss to the Houston Astros where they scored 11 runs total. Combined with allowing at least five runs in each of those games, it wasn't a recipe for success. However, Zach McAllister (2-1) provided the team the best start its had in a while, allowing only two runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings. He had been recalled from Triple-A Columbus earlier in the day. Wei-Yin Chen (7-4), who has been part of the reason for the Orioles' surprising success this year, had one of his lesser outings by giving up six runs, six hits and three walks in 6 1/3 frames. J.J. Hardy accounted for all of Baltimore's offense with a two-run homer as the O's fell for the seventh time in nine games.

Final Score: LA Angels of Anaheim 9, Toronto 7

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Mike Trout ripped a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning and the Angels held off the Blue Jays, 9-7, in the opener of a four-game set Thursday at Rogers Centre. Alberto Callaspo stroked a solo home run, Mark Trumbo added a two-run blast and Albert Pujols scored three times and clubbed a pair of doubles among his four hits to help the Angels earn their fourth straight win. Dan Haren (6-7) earned the victory, despite allowing six runs on seven hits and one walk over six frames. Ernesto Frieri retired the final hitter of the eighth and worked his way out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth to nail down his 10th save of the season. Brett Cecil (1-1) had a forgettable outing after yielding eight runs on 10 hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss. Jose Bautista crushed his league- leading 26th home run of the year, but the Blue Jays lost their third straight game.

Final Score: Detroit 5, Tampa Bay 2

St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBI as the Detroit Tigers took a 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays in the opener of a four-game set.
