WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - Monday night, fans all over the world will be watching this intense matchup between the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles.
This will be the 166th time the two teams have faced off against each other, and the Redskins are currently winning that series 86-74.
However, the Eagles did win the first matchup of the season, and are currently leading the division with a winning record of 5-1.
The Redskins are in second place in the division with a winning record of 3-2.
Monday night could either put the Eagles in a better position of keeping the number one spot in the NFC East, or it could allow the Redskins to stay in the race as a top team in the NFC.
The point is, you will not want to miss this game.
If you've been watching the Redskins this season, you're already aware of the number of injuries they are dealing with.
The Redskins will still have to find away to work around those injuries with a lot of their big defensive players not able to play.
CB Ronald Darby is questionable for Monday's game with an ankle injury. Even though this game will mark the 6th week of his 4-6 week recovery time, there's no telling if he'll play and how much time he will get.
CB Bashaud Breeland is also listed as questionable and will most likely have is knee tested by the Eagles' defense if he does end up playing.
With CB Josh Norman still out with a rib injury, the Redskins' secondary is very weak and the Eagles' offense knows it.
The Eagles on the other hand, are healthy and are on a 4 game winning streak. They could even have a couple players back that could improve their odds of winning against the Redskins for the second time this season.
Right tackle Lane Johnson and running back Wendell Smallwood both have been practicing and should be ready for the Monday night game.
The Eagles are a different team this year. They're playing smarter, faster, and with their minds on February.
It won't be easy for the Redskins to try to stop the roll that the Eagles are on.
Kirk Cousins and the offense will really have to step it up to offset the weak defense.
One thing is for sure, it's bound to be a good game for football fans.
