BURKE, Va. (WUSA 9) -- It's not football season without a little rivalry.
Robinson coach Scott Vossler said rivalry games bring excitement because the teams only play each other once during the season.
"We only get one shot," Vossler said. "It's all or nothing."
He said it's also a personal rivalry for the players because the kids grew up together.
"It's a lot of excitement," Vossler said. "We just try to prepare them to do their best."
Lake Braddock Coach Jim Poythress said the rivalry between Robinson provides the team with a little more excitement than other games.
"It's a tradition and a great atmosphere for high school football," Poythress said.
He said it has always been a good game between Lake Braddock and Robinson since the 70's and 80's. Poythress said it's a huge game because both teams have been competitive over the years.
"There's no rivalry when one team beats the other every time," he said. "The better the teams, the better the game."
The game between Lake Braddock and Robinson will be played at 7:30 p.m., Sept. 12 at Lake Braddock Secondary School.
