Falls Church wins School Spirit Celebration contest

WASHINGTON (WUSA 9) -- This summer we asked local students to nominate their school for "Most Spirited High School" in the D.C. area.

We received 13 nominations. After 20 days of intense voting and a total of 64,310 text, online and Twitter votes -- Falls Church High School in Falls Church, Virginia emerged victorious with 29,087 votes. Congratulations to the Jaguars!

Westlake High School in Waldorf, Maryland finished the contest in second place with 20,387 votes and Damascus High School in Damascus, Maryland came in third with 13,829 votes.

WUSA 9 will be presenting Falls Church with a check for $500 in mid-September to recognize the school community's dedication to athletics.

Join in the school spirit with the Jaguars at the Mosaic Bowl on September 5. The football team's home opener against Annandale is sure to be a competitive matchup!
