WASHINGTON (WUSA 9) -- "It's a championship or bust," said Coach Jason Lane.
Lane said his expectations are high going into the season, because the team gained experience from last year.
"One year of experience has really helped prepare the team for this season," said Lane.
Although the team was young last season, Lane said it has matured.
"The team has grown up and will be very competitive this year," he said.
Lane said he doesn't put the success of the team on one or two standout players. He said it's up to the Ballou football team to lead each other by working together.
"Teamwork is what's going to make this team succeed," Lane said.
Ballou's first game is against Perry Street Prep at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at McKinley Tech.
