Mesa, AZ (Sports Network) - Jaclyn Sweeney fired a 5-under 67 on Sunday to win
the VisitMesa.com Gateway Classic at Longbow Golf Club.
Sweeney finished her second Symetra Tour victory at 7-under-par 209. She
started the round two strokes behind the four leaders.
At the first, Sweeney converted her first birdie effort. She stumbled to a
bogey at two, then parred the next six holes.
Sweeney birdied the ninth and 11th. She caught fire down the stretch with
three birdies in the final four holes to grab the title.
Alena Sharp, one of the four second-round co-leaders, managed a 1-under 71 to
end alone in second at minus-5. Cydney Clanton (70) and second-round co-leader
Stephanie Kono (73) shared third at 3-under 213.
Jenny Suh and Tiffany Joh, the other second-round co-leaders struggled to 2-
over 74s. They tied for fifth at minus-2 with Jaye Marie Green (72) and Amelia
Lewis (73).
The second round was completed earlier Sunday after a frost delay pushed
things back on Saturday.
