Lake Forest, IL (Sports Network) - Three-time champion Nathan Smith and
Garrett Rank will square off in the final of the U.S. Mid-Amateur
Championship.
Smith, the 2003, 2009 and 2010 winner, opened Wednesday with a 1-up
quarterfinal victory over Corby Segal.
In the semifinals, Smith took a 3 & 1 decision over Tim Jackson at Conway
Farms Golf Club.
Rank started the day with a 3 & 2 decision over Matthew Mattare in the
quarterfinals. He then posted a 1-up victory over Todd White to reach the
final.
The championship round will take place on Thursday at 8 a.m. (ET).
