Former Capitals Forward won't kneel for national anthem

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - San Jose Sharks and former Washington Capitals forward Joel Ward said he will not kneel during the national anthem.

In a twitter post, Ward said he wants to focus on “moving progress forward” outside the hockey arena. Here’s more on Joel Ward’s tweet about kneeling during the anthem.

Ward, who’s Canadian, is one of only 20 black players in the National Hockey League. Ward dealt with racism during his four seasons with the Capitals.
