DC bars prepare for World Cup

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The 2014 Fifa World Cup starts Thursday and bars throughout Washington D.C. are on their toes as they prep for the big day.

Various places are getting in the spirit and creating specialty drinks and menus for the tournament.

At Bar Pilar, located on 14th street, there will be an entire drink and appetizer menu dedicated for the games. Bartender, Owen Thomson, has been working to prep ingredients for Thursday's opener and he has created his own version of fireball whiskey. Along with drinks, the bar will serve small appetizers.

If you are around 7th street, Fado Irish Pub is having various drinks specials like orange crushes and Heineken on tap. The entire restaurant is decorated with soccer banners and you'll be sure to see team USA flags at the entrance.
