Nacogdoches, TX (Sports Network) - The Stephen F. Austin football team will
play five home games as part of a 12-game schedule in 2013 announced Saturday.
"It is our goal to play a nationally competitive schedule every season, and I
believe weve accomplished that with our 2013 schedule," coach J.C. Harper
said. "We look forward to our five games at home, due to the great support we
receive from our fans. We also have some very tough road games ahead of us,
including trips to Weber State and Texas Tech. I know our kids always look
forward to our rivalry games against Sam Houston State in Reliant and against
Northwestern State."
SFA, which was 5-6 this season, will open the 2013 campaign with consecutive
road games for the first time since 2003, at Weber State Aug. 31 and Texas
Tech Sept. 7.
The Lumberjacks will then host three straight home games at Homer Bryce
Stadium against Division II McMurry Sept. 14, three-time defending Big Sky
Conference champion Montana State Sept. 21 and Prairie View A&M Sept. 28.
SFA will play Southland Conference games at home against Nicholls Oct. 19 and
McNeese State Nov. 9.
Their road games within the Southland are against Southeastern Louisiana Oct.
12, Central Arkansas Oct. 26, Lamar Nov. 16 and Northwestern State Nov. 23.
