Oxford, MS (Sports Network) - Bo Wallace passed for 226 yards and a touchdown
as the Ole Miss Rebels took down the Auburn Tigers, 41-20, in SEC action at
Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Ole Miss (4-3, 1-2 SEC) had lost 16 straight conference games prior to the win.
Jeff Scott had 207 all-purpose yards as he led the Rebels in rushing and
receiving.
Clint Moseley struggled under center Auburn (1-5, 0-4), completing 11-of-18
passes for 112 yards with an interception. Tre Mason gained 82 yards and scored
two touchdowns on 18 carries. Daren Bates anchored the Tigers' defense with 16
total tackles.
Ole Miss jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the opening period. Randall Mackey
completed a 25-yard touchdown to Wallace on a trick play. Then C.J. Johnson
recovered a fumble in the end zone for the Rebels' second score.
Auburn clawed back in the second quarter. Mason punched it from a yard out just
over a minute into the period. Then with 5:56 left before the half, Mason
rushed six yards for his second touchdown of the game. Auburn took its first
lead with a minute remaining in the second quarter as Cody Parkey drilled a 46-
yard field goal.
Ole Miss managed to tie up the score by marching 64-yards down the field to put
Bryson Rose in position for a 28-yard field goal as the time expired. Rose's
kick made the score 17-17 at the intermission.
The Rebels had a strong start to the second half. Wallace capped off a 4-play,
73-yard drive with a one-yard run for a score just over a minute into the third
quarter to make it 24-17.
Auburn inched closer as Parkey made a 31-yard field goal with 4:38 left in the
third frame, however Ole Miss owned the fourth quarter.
The Rebels scored 17 unanswered points to close out the contest. Rose made a
39-yard field goal with 13:28 left to play. Wallace completed a 55-yard
touchdown pass to Scott and rushed two yards across the goal line to give Ole
Miss a much needed win over its conference foe.
Ole Miss gained 451 total yards on offense and limited Auburn to just 213
yards.
