Tucson, AZ (Sports Network) - Matt Scott tossed three touchdown passes on
Saturday and No. 24 Arizona pasted South Carolina State, 56-0.
Scott completed 30-of-36 passes for 288 yards without an interception and
added a rushing touchdown, as the Wildcats (3-0) wrapped up a perfect, season-
opening homestand. They were coming off an upset of nationally-ranked Oklahoma
State.
Daniel Jenkins, Ka'Deem Carey and Jared Baker each rushed for a score in
Saturday's rout, while Dan Buckner caught six passes for 85 yards and a
touchdown.
Richard Cue completed 12-of-25 passes for 89 yards and an interception for
the Bulldogs (1-2). The Football Championship Subdivision competitors managed
just 154 total yards.
Richard Morrison recorded four catches for the Wildcats and the junior
receiver opened the scoring with a 15-yard touchdown grab..
In the second quarter, Taimi Tutogi reeled in a 14-yard scoring strike from
Scott before Carey's seven-yard touchdown run made it 21-0.
Scott added to the lead when he notched a 10-yard touchdown run shortly before
halftime.
The Wildcats continued to dominate after the break as Scott opened the second-
half scoring with a 27-yard touchdown pass to Buckner.
Late in the third quarter, Jenkins reeled off a five-yard scoring burst to
make it 42-0.
B.J. Denker backed up Scott and completed 6-of-10 passes for 78 yards. The
junior signal caller found Sean Willet for a 17-yard touchdown early in the
fourth quarter before Baker capped the blowout with a four-yard scoring run.
GAME NOTES:
Arizona compiled 689 total yards ... This was the first-ever meeting between
the schools on the football field ...The Wildcats defeated Oklahoma State,
59-38, in their previous game.
