Mobile, AL (Sports Network) - Appalachian State wide receiver Brian Quick and
cornerbacks Asa Jackson of Cal Poly and Ryan Steed of Furman will participate
in the Senior Bowl Jan. 28 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
All three players were named to The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS All-America
Team.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Quick is Appalachian State's all-time record-holder in
receptions (202), receiving yards (3,418) and touchdown receptions (31).
Jackson, 5-11, 190 pounds, was the first player in the history of the Great
West Conference to be honored four times on the first-team defense, As a
senior, he had 54 tackles and two interception returns for touchdowns.
Steed, 5-11, 186, had 46 tackles, four interceptions, and four pass
deflections in a senior campaign which also featured his 48-yard fumble return
for a touchdown against Elon.
At the Senior Bowl, Mike Shanahan and the Washington Redskins staff will coach
the South squad and Leslie Frazier and the Minnesota Vikings staff will coach
the North.
Last year, all 107 Senior Bowl participants signed with NFL teams, and 83 were
selected in the NFL Draft, including 12 first-round picks.
It is expected next week's practice sessions will be attended by over 800
general managers, head coaches, assistant coaches, scouts and other front
office personnel from the 32 NFL teams.
NFL Network will televise the Senior Bowl, beginning at 4 p.m. ET.
