Cedar Falls, IA (Sports Network) - Anthony James scored 24 points to lead the
Panthers of Northern Iowa over North Dakota, 77-66, for a first round win in
the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at the McLeod Center.
James shot 8-of-13 from the field and hit three shots from beyond the arc for
UNI (19-14). Seth Tuttle and Marc Sonnen scored 19 points each while Sonnen
shot 5-of-10 from 3-point range.
UND (16-17) was led by Troy Huff who managed 22 points and four steals but had
six turnovers. Jamal Webb added 11 points and was the only other UND player to
score in double-figures.
The Panthers led 41-28 at halftime after shooting a highly efficient 57.1
percent from the field in the first half.
UND outscored UNI 38-36 in the second half despite the Panthers shooting
dropping to 43.5 percent primarily by hitting 14-of-21 shots from the free-
throw line
The Panthers shot at a 51 percent rate and hit on 9-of-20 3-point attempts
while UND made good on just 40.7 percent from the field.
