Albany, NY (Sports Network) - Candon Rusin scored 18 points as the Vermont
Catamounts cruised to an 85-72 decision over the UMBC Retrievers in the
semifinals of the American East Tournament at SEFCU Arena.
Luke Apfeld and Ethan O'Day tallied 16 points each for Vermont (21-10), which
will take on the winner of the Stony Brook-Albany matchup in the championship.
Clancy Rugg also got into the mix with 11 points while Brian Voelkel tallied
eight points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals.
Ryan Cook paced UMBC (8-23) with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor.
Chase Plummer and Joey Getz contributed 13 points apiece while Brian Neller
netted 11.
The Retrievers lost despite knocking down 12-of-22 from beyond the arc as they
were outscored, 22-14, at the charity stripe.
